He previously was Chairman, President, and CEO of The Cumberland Federal Bancorporation, a thrift headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. During his tenure with The Cumberland, the price per share of stock rose from $10.25 at its initial public offering in May 1987 to $57.00 per share in August 1994 when The Cumberland was purchased by Fifth Third Bancorp.
